NORAC Field Day
June 18-19 2005

NORAC’s Field Day was held  at Paddlewheel Park. The club made just over $100 on the BBQ sale (price was by donation). Also, the draw for prizes was done with Andy VE7FTR winning the DVD player and Fumi VE7VTE winning the mini Dremel (the two big prizes). Bill Greene VE7WFG reports: “We made a total of about 261 contacts that included one with Astronaut John Phillips NA1SS on Sunday morning on board the International Space Station, and two contacts on the Oscar -51 running in mode V/S ( up on VHF and down on 2.4 Gigs ) one with AI7W Steve Jepsen in Eugene Oregon and the other with W6ZQ Ron Cade in Huntington Beach California . We also made three digital BPSK 31 contacts and generally had a great time even though we experienced relatively poor band conditions.
Thanks to everyone for all their help in making this Field Day a successful and enjoyable experience for all and especially the late night and early morning operators who kept the stationed manned or womaned. My congratulations to Dorothy VE7DAL for her organization of the BBQ and the great prizes that everyone received who operated the station, Paul VE7KHZ for the loan of his solar equipment and Stu VE7BQY for the late night beverage and tons of running around to make sure everything was working properly. We are already working on next year. Again thanks to everyone.”
