Many of you have heard about and participated in the ARRL Field Day event that happens in the summer each year. That event is probably the highlight to any North American HAM's season of contests and events. It's a chance to show preparedness, test skills and share amateur radio with the community.

But what about being prepared and testing skills in the middle of winter? That's what Winter Field Day is about.

The Winter Field Day Association (WFDA) is a dedicated group of Amateur Radio Operators who believe that emergency communications in a winter environment is just as important as the preparations and practice that is done each summer but with some additional unique operational concerns. The association hosts an annual contest event each winter designed to test your skills in more challenging conditions.

This year, Winter Field Day will run from 1900 UTC (11am PST) Saturday to 1900 UTC (11am PST) Sunday on January 25th and 26th, 2020.

Read more about the event and contest rules at the Winter Field Day website.

Hope to hear you on the air,
